Fall programs announced

STERLING – Autumn activities are planned at the Whiteside County Senior Center, 1207 W. Ninth St.

All programs are free unless otherwise noted. The center’s Emporium Thrift Center will provide a fashion show at noon Thursday. Winter fashions and accessories will be the focus of the program.

A Medicare fraud program will be at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 24. Jennifer Snow will be the speaker, with information about what to look for and ways to prevent fraud.

Two programs are planned for Sept. 26. Line dancers will give a Halloween-themed performance at the center at 10 a.m.

Lunch and a free movie will be at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 26, Popcorn will be served with the movie, “Amelia,” starting Hilary Swank and Richard Gere. A salmon patty, creamed peas, potato, drink and dessert, will be available for lunch. The cost is $4.

A Halloween costume contest will be at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

Attendees can come in costume, with a chance for prizes. Halloween bingo will follow the contest.
