CHICAGO (AP) — Supporters from around the world will be on city streets to cheer on the 45,000 runners in this year's Chicago Marathon.
Chicago Sister Cities International says it's partnering with international organizations and foreign consulates to cheer Sunday morning for runners at points along the more than 26-mile marathon route. The cheering stations will have signs in foreign languages, flags and other activities to welcome international athletes who are running the race. Chicago Sister Cities expects runners from more than 100 different countries.
Cheering stations will be organized by places like Osaka, Japan; Lucerne, Switzerland; and Vilnius, Lithuania.
