COMPTON – Marvin B. Hartley, 71, of Compton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

He was born Nov. 15, 1940, in Mendota, the son of Elliott and Evelyn Hartley. He was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Hawley on Nov. 18, 1961. 

He is survived by his wife, Beth; a son, John Hartley of Compton; a grandson, Evan Meyer Hartley; five step-grandchildren; two brothers, Douglas (Jill) Hartley of Compton and Mick (Barb) Hartley of Mendota; and a sister, Catherine. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Robert Alan Hartley, and a daughter, Brenda Hawley Hartley. 

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Torman Funeral Home, 510 Flagg St. in Paw Paw. 

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Torman Funeral Home. Pastor Ken Foster will officiate. Interment will follow in Melugin Grove Cemetery in Compton. 

Torman Funeral Home in Paw Paw is handling arrangements.
