Elizabeth 'Betty' Eichelberger

ROCK FALLS – Elizabeth “Betty” Eichelberger, 67, of Rock Falls, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Mayo Clinic, St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Born Jan. 12, 1945, in Amboy, she was a daughter of Charles and Mildred (Bushman) Apple. She married Lyle “Ike” Eichelberger on Sept. 16, 1967, in Rock Falls.

Betty was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She was best known for her homemade apple pies. Betty attended Newman Central Catholic High School from where she graduated in 1963. 

Survivors include her husband, Lyle “Ike” of Rock Falls; daughters, Monica Thomas of Rock Falls, Amy (Richard) Dingley of Sterling and Penny (Chris) Tabor of Sterling; a son, Simon Eichelberger (Leanna Lennington) of Sterling; her grandchildren, Ryan Eichelberger, Chloe Eichelberger, Christopher Dingley, Justin Dingley and Sierra Dingley; sisters, Eileen Linton of Rock Falls, Rita Clifton of Sterling and Doris (Leonard) Amesquita of Rock Falls; and her brothers, Donald (Wanda) Apple of Sterling, David (Doris) Apple of Rock Falls, Bill Apple of Amboy, Bob (Betty) Apple of Tampico and Gene (Jane) Apple of Sterling. Her parents preceded her in death.

Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, with Monsignor Thomas Dzielak officiating. Cremation rites will follow. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with the rosary at 4:45 p.m.  

A memorial fund has been established.
