DIXON – A bit of the Antiques Roadshow is coming to Dixon Public Library.

Mark Moran, who has appeared on the popular PBS show, will do appraisals from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at the library, 221 S. Hennepin Ave.

Moran, of Iola, Wis., will appraise fine art, furniture, ceramics, glassware, vintage photographs, folk art, toys, metalware, clocks, and costume jewelry. He does not appraise coins, paper money, fine jewelry, musical instruments, Beanie Babies or weapons of any kind, including knives.

The cost is $15 per item. Proceeds, minus Moran’s $400 in expenses, will benefit the library and will come to about $200 if all time slots are filled.

Moran also will make house calls; he charges $75 and will give the library 10 percent.

Sign up at the library before Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Payment by cash or check must be made at the time of registration.

The money likely will be used for building improvements, said Director Lynn Roe, who hopes to remodel the spot in the adult section where reference books used to be into an area for new books with chairs and laptop tables.
