Keep bad call brick handy for politicians, too

I keep a rubberized bad call brick beside my favorite chair when watching my Green Bay Packers. I used it Monday night, Sept. 22. The talk – even by most Bear fans – was just how bad the calls were and the need to get the “professional” referees back on the field.

As a died-in-the-wool Packer fan, I can still accept it’s “only a game,” and the replacement refs were “doing the best they can.” However, I cannot accept the farce being perpetrated on citizens of Illinois and the nation.

Here we have a state ranked last of all 50 states when it comes to corruption. Laugh at replacement refs, but how can we laugh at such jokes as, “Our governors serve two terms; one in Springfield and one in prison”?

How can we tolerate the graft (Crundwell) recently seen in Dixon and yet not hold leaders (council) to their fiduciary responsibilities?

How can we tolerate the state being run by a king (Madigan) when it has pension plans over $88 billion (or whatever – who knows what it really is) in arrears; when Chicago teachers get a 17 percent pay increase even if the kids can’t read, spell or do third-grade math?

How can we continue to have the Constitution ripped to shreds by a narcissistic president who has raised our national debt to $16 trillion and adding over $1 trillion each year? Do you have any appreciation to what a trillion dollars is? Does this make sense to anyone?

But, hey, on a Sunday afternoon , there's time for 7 hours of football. Maybe we can spend 10 minutes on our national debt in the next few weeks.

As for me, I’m keeping my bad call brick handy not only for the refs but for our politicians.
