Generating plant plans open house

Published: Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 1:15 a.m. CST

BYRON – Byron Generating Station’s community open house will be from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 21 in the station’s training building at 4450 N. German Church Road.

Employees will provide general information about station operations, environmental awareness, security, safety and station enhancements made after last year’s event at the Fukushima nuclear facility in Japan. Guests also will be able to tour the station’s control room simulator in the training facility, where operator training is conducted.

Light refreshments will be served.

For more information on the open house or general questions about Byron Station and its outreach program, call 815-406-3554.

Due to security restrictions, the open house is limited to the training center. It will not include a tour inside the plant.
