Need a ballot delivered?

This is the first day a voter who has been admitted to a hospital, nursing home, or rehabilitation center not more than 14 days before an election can ask the local election authority to deliver an absentee ballot.

Oct. 29

For military members

This is the last day for any military member, spouse or dependents who expect to be out of the country to apply for an official ballot to the election authority having jurisdiction over their precinct residence, and also the last day for the election authority to mail such a ballot.

Nov. 1

Absentee mail ballots due

Those voting absentee by mail must have their ballots at their election office by today.

Nov. 2-5

In a nursing home?

Nursing home voting will be held over these 4 days, although each county's election authority determines the dates for that county.

Nov. 3

Early, grace voting ends

This is the last day for grace period registration and voting and early voting.

Nov. 5

Absentee in person ends

This is the last day to vote absentee in person, and the last day for any temporarily or permanently physically disabled voter to request a ballot be delivered.

Nov. 6

Election Day

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Wise saw collapse in support

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
