Businessman opposes Nov. 6 tax referendum
I read with interest about the proposed new $15 million playground for Dixon Schools being pushed on almost everyone doing business in Lee County. A sizable portion of my business is derived from the camping trade that calls Lee County home during the summer.
The article stated nobody would complain about an additional 1 percent sales tax; they must have asked the Dixon folks with kids who would benefit.
Everyone who comes into my shop and all the people I’ve spoken with in Amboy are dead against this new tax. Several customers buy goods and services in Lee County because not only are our prices lower, so is our sales tax.
