STERLING – Whiteside County Genealogists extended the deadline for submitting family stories for it’s new book, “Whiteside County, Illinois History & Families.”

Families who have lived in Whiteside County for any amount of time can submit 500-word stories and a picture free of charge by Dec. 1. A charge of 15 cents per additional word and $15 for each additional photo will apply.

Histories of local churches and schools are now accepted for $75 for a quarter page, $85 for a half page and $125 for a full page in the book.

More than 200 articles and 195 pictures from the country have been received.

The 8.5-by-11-inch book will be bound in swirl-grained leatherette with a gold stamped seal depicting the Morrison depot.

A limited number of books will be printed, and are only available through pre-order. The cost is $54.95. Book pickup locations will be announced at a later date. They also can be shipped for $6.50. Customers should indicate shipping preferences when ordering.
