STERLING – Peggy A. Whitmore, 69, of Sterling, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was an assembler at BorgWarner in Dixon for 15 years.

She was born Dec. 10, 1942, in Cairo, the daughter of Herbert and Bonnie (Rye) Willis. She married Gerald F. Whitmore on June 3, 1961, at St. Flannen Catholic Church in Harmon.

She loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed going to garage sales and talking to her Facebook friends on the computer. 

Surviving are her husband, Jerry of Sterling; her daughters, Nancy Standard and Kimberly (Roger) Cook, both of Sterling, and Susan (John) Lins of Jacksonville, Fla.; her sons, Jerry (Theresa) Whitmore of Freeport and Patrick Whitmore of Sterling; a brother, Wayne (Cathy) Willis of Sterling; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, Jennifer, Anthony, Destiny, Christina, Jaryd, Aireal, Misty and Jessie; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

A memorial has been established.
