DIXON – The creator of what the Dixon High School principal called a “disgusting” Facebook page has been identified, police said Wednesday.

Through a Facebook page, an anonymous poster, apparently a student, has been insulting other Dixon High students. Several concerned parents and students contacted the school and Dixon police, representatives from both entities said.

The school, with the help of the police, decided to investigate, Principal Mike Grady said.

The page’s creator and others who helped create some of the posts have been identified, according to a post Wednesday afternoon on the Dixon Police Department’s Facebook page.

“We are in the process of gathering all possible evidence and again, unfortunately, this may take some time,” the post said. “Also, due to the sensitivity of juvenile matters, we will not be posting any further information about the investigation.”

School administration is considering disciplinary action, including suspension or a recommendation for expulsion, Grady said Tuesday. Expulsion requires school board action.

The department also is keeping its options open, Reagan Middle School Resource Officer Tony Quadraro, who was working on the investigation, said Tuesday.

Facebook has been contacted about removing the page, he said.

Wise saw collapse in support

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."
