STERLING – Robert J. Rippy, 59, of Sterling, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home.

Robert was born Sept. 4, 1953, in Vandalia, the son of Robert and Grace (Rhodes) Rippy. He served in the Army. He married Giselle Bailey on Jan. 22, 1972, in Rock Falls.

Survivors include his wife of Rock Falls; one daughter, Stacey (Chad) Fowkes of Sterling; two sons, Shane Rippy of Princeton and Steven Rippy of Rock Falls; one sister, Joy Bell (Bennie) Reyes of Texas; one brother, Pat Rippy of Erie; three grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Michael Rippy; and his stepmother, Phyllis Rippy.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks of Harvest Time Bible Church officiating.

A memorial has been established.

Wise saw collapse in support

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
