Nora E. ‘Nickie’ Roberts

BELOIT, Wis. – Nora “Nickie” Ellen Roberts, 84, of Beloit, Wis. formerly of Dixon, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Pioneer Court Assisted Living in Beloit. She was a tour guide at John Deere Historic Site in Grand Detour, retiring in 2001.

Nickie was born Aug. 29, 1928, in South Beloit, the daughter of Francis and Mabel (Murphy) McHone. She married Melvin Gayle Roberts on July 7, 1970, in Grand Detour. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1998.

Survivors include one nephew, Michael (Margaret) Palubinski of Shopiere, Wis.; one niece, Chrystal (McHone) Johns of Clinton, Wis.; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Daniel McHone Sr. and Grant McHone; and one sister, Dolly Palubinski.

There is no visitation. Private graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon, with the Rev. John Kalebaugh, pastor of The Refuge Church in Amboy, officiating. Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon handled arrangements.
