Missing 35-year-old husband found safe

ROCK FALLS – A Rock Falls man was found safe in an undisclosed western state a week after he was reported missing, police said.

State troopers stopped Bryan R. Van Hooser, 35, about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday; they recognized his license plate number, which was entered into a nationwide missing person database, Rock Falls Police Chief Mike Kuelper said.

Police spoke to him and he said he is fine, Kuelper said. He would not say where Van Hooser was found or why he left.

His wife, Mindy, reported him missing on Sept. 25. Van Hooser, a driver with W.N. Morehouse Truck Line In Omaha, Neb., was supposed to deliver a load of frozen meat to Chicago that morning but did not show up at work.

His cellphone was in his semitrailer, which was at the local business park where he kept it.

Mindy Van Hooser told Sauk Valley Media that her husband told her he didn’t want to be a truck driver anymore; she said she thought he may be headed west.
