Sister Cities Oktoberfest

DIXON – The Dixon Sister Cities Association's annual "Kenya Come to Dixon's Irish Oktoberfest" begins at 6 p.m. Saturday at the VFW, 1560 Franklin Grove Road. The Bratwurst Brothers, a German oompah band from Chicago, and Franklin Grove's Copper Creek band will perform. There will be German, Irish and Kenyan food, silent auctions and door prizes.

Fall festival in Fulton

FULTON – The Fulton Fall Festival will be Saturday in the downtown and Saturday and Sunday in Heritage Canyon. Most activities are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Family activities will include inflatable rides, a petting zoo, train rides, pumpkin painting, games, clowns, balloon artists, and more. There will be food vendors and entertainment. A classic car cruise-in runs from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Fourth Street and 13th Avenue. There will be beer gardens and bands in the evening.

Autumn on Parade

OREGON – The annual Autumn on Parade festival Saturday and Sunday features a market with items from more than 175 farmers, crafters and fine arts vendors, live entertainment, food, a kids' zone, a duck dash, a 5K run-walk, a 50/50 raffle and a parade.

Most activities begin at 8 a.m. downtown. There also is an antique tractor show and a car, truck, and motorcycle show, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday only at Oregon Park East.

Two miles up state Route 2 is the annual Olde English Faire, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at Stronghold Center. Admission is $9 for 1 day, $14 for 2, for ages 13 and older; or $5 and $7 for ages 7-12.

Riverside Cemetery walk

STERLING – Visit the veterans of the War of 1812 during a walk through historic Riverside Cemetery.

Pick up a map at the Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society on the grounds of the Dillon Home Museum, 1005 E. Third St., beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, where award-winning musician Niel Shoffner will be playing his Native American flute.

The first tour begins at 1:30 p.m. at the cemetery, where costumed presenters will tell tales of bygone days, and there wll be a demonstration on how to clean a weathered headstone.

The tours are free; donations will be accepted. Call 815-622-6215 for more information.

Mother Goose on trial in Mount Morris

MOUNT MORRIS – The Performing Arts Guild presents the comedy "Mother Goose: On Trial!" at The Grove Theatre at Pinecrest Community Center, 500 Evergreen Lane.

Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, this weekend and next. Admission is $12 for reserved seats, $10 for general admission for adults, and $7 and $5 for K-12 students.
