I am Kenneth Roeder from Fulton. I’m a candidate on the Democratic ticket for Whiteside County Board in District 3.

My wife, Aletha, and I have lived in the Garden Plain area since 1979, and our two children graduated from the River Bend School District. I attended DeWitt Central Community School, graduating in 1967, and attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa.

I have been a member of the Carpenters and Millwrights Union since 1974, served on the executive board, and retired in 2006 from Millwright Local 2158. I am a former officer of the Albany-Garden Plain Youth Association, and I served on the River Bend School Board.

Economic development in Whiteside County is a priority of mine. We need to create and retain decent-paying jobs to keep our young people in the community. In November, I will be running for a second term on the Whiteside County Board.

I would have gladly paid to take in the game I covered Saturday morning in Morrison.
