NIU Settles in, routs CMU

Settle opened the scoring with an 11-yard run in the first quarter before adding a 6-yard TD in the second. In the fourth, he ran 46 yards down the sideline to help seal the victory for the Huskies (4-1), who closed the game on a 31-3 run.

Jordan Lynch threw for 215 yards and a touchdown and added 144 yards rushing for the Huskies (4-1).

Illini QB Nathan Scheelhaase threw for 270 yards, but was intercepted twice.

Northwestern 44, Indiana 29: Kain Colter ran for 161 yards and four touchdowns, and Northwestern set a school record with 704 yards of total offense in Evanston.

Colter also finished with 131 yards receiving. Trevor Siemian threw for 308 yards for the Wildcats (5-0), who led 27-0 early in the third quarter.

Indiana (2-2) got with 37-29 when D’Angelo Roberts scored on a 2-yard run and Kofi Hughes ran it in on a reverse for the two-point conversion.

No. 22 Nebraska 30, Wisconsin 27: Taylor Martinez guided four straight scoring drives in the second half to lead Nebraska’s comeback from a 17-point deficit in Lincoln, Neb.

Martinez ran for 107 yards and threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns for the Huskers (3-1, 1-0). Joel Stave passed for 214 yards and a touchdown for Wisconsin (3-2, 0-1).

Iowa 31, Minnesota 13: Mark Weisman ran for 177 yards, 155 in the first half, to give the Hawkeyes possession of the Floyd of Rosedale bronze pig trophy in Iowa City, Iowa.

Christian Kirksey’s 68-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter sealed the win for Iowa (3-2), which bounced back from last week’s disappointing 32-31 loss to Central Michigan (2-2) to win the Big Ten opener for both schools.
