Shimkus employee accused of assault
CHICAGO (AP) – An employee for Illinois Congressman John Shimkus is in custody after allegedly assaulting Lindsay Lohan in an argument at a New York City hotel.
Authorities say Christian LaBella of Valley Village, Calif., was arrested Sunday. He allegedly argued with Lohan over cell phone photos. Lohan was allegedly grabbed or thrown. Her publicist says she was injured but not hospitalized.
LaBella couldn’t be reached for comment. He was initially charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment.
Shimkus spokesman Steven Tomaszewski confirmed LaBella has been an employee in the Republican congressman’s Washington office. He says LaBella hasn’t contacted the office.
The spokesman says Shimkus doesn’t condone the alleged actions. He called it a legal matter and declined to comment further.
Police say Lohan and LaBella had encountered each other earlier at a club.
