Local pet caregiver goes to national meeting

DIXON ­ Tammy Klingberg, owner of Love for Pets, a pet-sitting and dogwalking service, attended Pet Sitters International's 17th Quest for Excellence Convention Sept. 12-15 in Austin, Texas.

More than 150 professional pet-sitters and industry members from 27 states and Canada, took part in the meeting. Workshops and sessions covered pet first aid, avian care, pet loss and social medias.

Klingberg also participated in PSI’s annual quest charity auction, which raised $7000 to benefit Animal Trustees of Austin, a nonprofit organization offering services to improve the quality of life for cats and dogs. Visit www.petsit.com for more information about the pet-sitting industry.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
