Prophetstown man cited in local crash
A Prophetstown man was cited for improper passing Wednesday after he ran into a semitrailer at state Route 30 and Hoyle Road in Lee County.
Sheriff’s deputies responded about 10:08 a.m.
Jimmie Bear, 43, of Stockton, was eastbound in hs semitrailer when he began to turn left on Hoyle. Thomas Smessaert, 60, of Prophetstown, who was trying to pass a pickup, hit the front end of the semi and wound up in a ditch, deputies said.
