MOUNT MORRIS – Work soon will begin on improvements to the village band shell downtown.

Demps Concrete of Dixon will pour cement for a 1,700-square-foot pad for a new seating area in front of the band shell that will have attached benches; along with 5-foot sidewalks leading from the street to the band shell and a 10-by-12-foot pad behind the band shell, where a storage shed where community organizations can store supplies and equipment for ice cream socials held during summer concerts will be built.

New lighting and a new flagpole also are planned.
