Wonders why senator didn’t vote on jobs bill
Last week, the Republicans in the U.S. Senate blocked a vote on the Veterans Jobs Bill, S. 3457. This was a bill that would have helped prepare Iraq and Afghanistan veterans for jobs in police work, fire fighting and other government field jobs.
The vote on the Veterans Jobs Bill went like this: 58 yes votes, 40 no votes, and two senators did not vote. The Veterans Jobs Bill was killed.
The 58 yes vote included all 51 Democrats, five Republicans, and two independents. The 40 no votes were all Republican obstructionists, including four who actually contributed to the language in the bill.
