Regional singers take home honors

Members of Prairie Echoes Chorus won first place in small chorus and third overlall earlier this year at a competition in Michigan. DeKALB – Prairie Echoes Chorus, a musical group for women and girls 14 and older, won several awards during a competition May 5 in Grand Rapids, Mich.

A group of 16 choir members performed "How's Every Little Thing in Dixie" and "Rockabye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody." They took first place in the small chorus division, and third place overall.

Prairie Echoes also performed in July at Dixon's Petunia Festival Parade, and at the Young Women in Harmony workshop Sept. 19 at Sterling High School.

Singers are from across northern Illinois, including Sterling. The chorus meets from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 900 Normal Road. Call 815-761-5956 for more information.
