Mayor: 'Significant development' in Crundwell case coming Thursday
DIXON – A news conference announcing a "significant development" in the case against former city comptroller will be held Thursday afternoon, according to a release this morning from the mayor's office.
Lee County State's Attorney Henry Dixon is set to speak. He wouldn't confirm what the announcement will be, but a grand jury is set to be convened Thursday morning.
Rita A. Crundwell, 59, of Dixon, was indicted by a federal grand jury in May on a wire fraud charge connected to what prosecutors say was the misappropriation of $53 million in city funds over two decades.
