Judge dismisses civil lawsuit in Reed case
Whiteside court is wrong venue, Steines decides
MORRISON – A Whiteside County judge dismissed a civil lawsuit Tuesday brought against Ogle County officials by the brother of an Oregon teenager murdered 64 years ago.
Judge Stanley B. Steines dismissed the case filed in November by Warren Reed, 70, of Rock Falls, and Michael Arians, 63, of Oregon, co-founders of the Mary Jane Reed Foundation, because it was in the wrong jurisdiction.
“The judge dismissed the case because the venue was not proper,” said Berwyn attorney Austin Zimmer, who represented the defendants.
