Hippen leads Rocket boys

Trace Hippen earned medalist honors with a 2-over-par 37 to lead Rock Falls to a 167-176 win over Burlington Central on Tuesday at LakeView Golf Course near Sterling.

Also for the Rockets, Andrew Tichler had 40 and Aaron Frank and Matt Long each had 45s.

Reid Hoffman shot an even-par 36 to the Morrison Mustangs past Three Rivers foes Amboy and Prophetstown on Tuesday at Deer Valley. 

Morrison scored a 167 followed by Amboy at 183 and Prophetstown at 233. 

Sam Ottens shot a 43 for Morrison while Colton Smith and Ben Tegeler added 44s. 

Josh Gross led Amboy with a 43. Jake Plautz shot a 53 for Prophetstown. 

Ottawa 162, Sterling 172: Andrew Blackburn was medalist, shooting a 1-over par 37 at Emerald Hill, but the Warriors dropped a NIB-12 dual to the Pirates. 

Austin Cook had a 44 and Trevor Sisson added a 45 for the Warriors.

Oregon 165, Marengo 174: Lane Hawkins fired a 2-under-par 34 for the Hawks in a win over the Indians at Marengo Ridge.

Taylor Brubaker added a 43 for Oregon (12-3, 9-3 Big Northern), while Brian Ostrander and Ben Gardner added 44s.

Girls golf

Rock Falls 213, Burlington Central 213, Erie 214: The Rockets won a tightly contested match on a fifth-card playoff at Rock River. 

The Rockets fifth score was a 60, which was scored by both Jordyn Vickers and Ashley Schmitt. Burlington Central did not have a fifth golfer. Kara Nehrkorn led the Rockets (17-6) with a 50. 

Erie's Skylar Neely-Houzenga shared medalist honors with Burlington Central's Jenna Kurosky and Josie Kurosky. All three shot 46.

Geneseo 198, Sterling 205: Allie Johnson had a 46 and Emily Simon added a 49 for the Golden Warriors in a loss to the Maple Leafs at Geneseo Country Club.
