DIXON – About 700 people took part in a family fun fair Sept. 7 at Lincoln Elementary School, sponsored by First United Methodist Church.

Those attending competed in three-legged races, games of chance, balloon tosses, bingo, face painting, a beanbag toss and other activities. Steve and LeAnn James of Dixon won a $400 gift certificate for a family getaway to Clock Tower Resort and Water Park in Rockford.

The fair was through the Adopt A School Program. First United adopted Lincoln School in 2011. The church sends volunteers to the school to read to students, help teachers with needed tasks, send treats to school staff, and buy reading books for classes.

Call Sue Johnson, Lincoln principal, at 815-284-7726 for more information.
