Central Ill. schools locked down over gun report
MASON CITY (AP) — Authorities say a central Illinois school has been locked down after a report of someone with a gun on campus.
Sgt. John Windsor of the Mason County Sherriff's Department says about 800 students at Illini Central High School in Mason City and adjacent elementary and junior high schools were locked in classrooms Wednesday after a staffer called 911 at 11:15 a.m. Mason City is about 30 miles north of Springfield.
Windsor says the caller reported a gun on campus. He says no one was injured and no shots were fired but he wasn't sure if a gun was found.
