Sterling discusses stormwater utility fee
Engineer offers ways to reward those who manage water wisely
STERLING – City Council members learned more Monday about how a credit policy for a proposed stormwater utility fee would work.
For more than a year, the council has been discussing the possibility of implementing a stormwater utility fee to help raise $14 million to alleviate flooding.
The city has identified a series of projects that would help flood-prone areas. Without a dedicated revenue source, though, there won’t be enough money to pay for the projects, officials say.
