Pork dinner to be served in Walnut

WALNUT – First Christian Church of Walnut, 109 Red Oak Road, will have a pork supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 7.

A pork dinner or sandwich, baked beans, potato chips, salad bar, dessert bar and coffee or lemonade will be served.

Tickets can be purchased at the door. The cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.75 for children younger than 8.

Call 815-379-2083 for carry-outs and deliveries.

There will be a 50/50 drawing and a drawing for a gift basket from the Walnut House.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
