Police: Student dead after falling on train tracks
CHICAGO (AP) — Authorities say a 21-year-old college student is dead after falling on electrified rail tracks of a Chicago Transit Authority train.
The Cook County medical examiner's office says John Versnel of Chicago was pronounced dead early Saturday. Police say he fell onto the tracks early that morning near Loyola University.
CTA spokesman Brian Steele says Versnel wasn't hit by a train but made contact with an electrified rail. The incident stopped trains for an hour.
