Newman impressive in runner-up finish
Comets go above, beyond
WALNUT – Val Gassman may have to reassess her goals for the Newman boys cross country team after its performance in the Bureau Valley
Invitational on Saturday.
Gassman was shooting for a top-5 finish, but the Comets wound up second among 29 teams at the race held at Bureau Valley North Junior High School. Alleman took the top team spot with 74 points, with Newman next at 120.
Elmwood-Brimfield (131), Westmont (198) and Bureau Valley (216) rounded out the top five teams.
