Boys roundup: Dixon’s Thorpe in top 10 in Peoria

Oregon, Fulton golfers 4th at invites; Dixon, Oregon soccer notch wins

Dixon junior Simon Thorpe competed against some of the state’s best cross country runners and finished 10th among 545 runners at the Richard Spring Invitational on Saturday at Detweiller Park in East Peoria.

Thorpe completed the 3-mile Detweiller course, site of next month’s state meet, in 14 minutes, 54 seconds. He led Dixon to 18th place among 60 teams with 510 points.

Rounding out the Dukes’ lineup were Skylar Mitchell (69th, 15:32), Cody Sondgeroth (125th, 15:54), Austin Trevino (126th, 15:54) and Roy Hummel (199th, 16:19).
