Happy birthday, Star Spangled Banner
Lincoln Elementary School second- and third-graders say the Pledge of Allegiance before they sing “The Star Spangled Banner” Friday morning in Dixon. The kids gathered around the flagpole outside the school in recognition of the 198th anniversary Friday of the writing by Francis Scott Key of a poem that eventually became our national anthem. Schools across the country celebrated by singing “The Star Spangled Banner.”
