Comets hitting stride as Three Rivers play begins
Toughening up
STERLING – A tough early-season schedule is paying off for the Newman volleyball team.
The Comets played the likes of Rock Falls, Rock Island and Sterling. The benefits are showing, as they improved to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the Three Rivers with a 25-21, 25-15 sweep over Prophetstown on Monday night at Newman.
"We've played some really good competition," said the Comets' Rachel Hageman, who had a team-high six kills. "That's got us really well-prepared for conference."
