High school football: Backups step up injured Comets against Storm
Next man in
STERLING – The Newman Comets philosophy of “next man in” was on full display Friday night, and those next guys stepped up and delivered.
Already down two starting offensive linemen, the Comets lost three more and a running back to injury during their 30-14 victory over Bureau Valley at Roscoe Eades Stadium.
But all Newman did was rush for 330 yards and four touchdowns, putting two backs over the 100-yard mark and shutting down the Storm offense to the tune of 195 total yards.
