David E. Gerdes

TAMPICO – David E. Gerdes, 75, of Tampico, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, Iowa. He was an auto salesman at Bollman Motors in Rock Falls.

He was born Sept. 3, 1937, in Milledgeville, a son of Edward and Irene (Meyer) Gerdes. He married Signe Nelson on July 12, 1997, in Thomson.

Survivors include his wife of Tampico; his daughters, Karen Gerdes of Savanna and Patty Gerdes of Georgia; his sons, Allen (Peggy) Gerdes of Lebanon, Mo., and Steve (Rita) Gerdes of Morrison; his stepsons, Ron Poston, Jeff Poston and John Poston; his sister, Sherald of Texas; his brothers, Paul and Gary Gerdes, both of Texas; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Roger Gerdes.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., Monday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Kathy Burkheimer, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Milledgeville, officiating. Burial will be at South Elkhorn Cemetery in rural Milledgeville.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
