Lawmaker back on the job after farming accident
Morthland: ‘I’m taking it slow’
CORDOVA – Rich Morthland, R-Cordova, returned to his Moline office Wednesday, just days after he broke his kneecap in a farming accident.
Early Thursday morning, a young cow head-butted Morthland in the knee as the lawmaker was leaving his corral. He underwent surgery and must have 6 weeks of recovery before he can bend it again.
“I’m feeling great, all things considered,” said Morthland, 52. “I did have a serious injury and major surgery on my knee. My doctors are pleased about how well I’m getting around.”
