Charges dismissed in child endangerment case
DIXON – A misdemeanor child endangerment charge was dropped today against shopper Melissa A. Kisiel, 27, after police learned she had no idea her 4-month-old was in her car.
"We feel this was truly a miscommunication and that she did not intentionally leave the child in the car," Police Chief Danny Langloss said after conferring with the Department of Child and Family Services and Lee County State's Attorney Henry Dixon.
Police went to Walmart about 4 p.m. Saturday after a citizen reported that an infant was alone in a car. Kisiel was identified about 45 minutes later as she was leaving.
