Sterling steadily salts away win over Curie in turf debut
Tough like Tupperware
STERLING – Whenever Chicago Curie’s sails started to puff, the Sterling Golden Warriors found a way to punch a hole in a 21-7, synthetic turf-christening victory Friday at Roscoe Eades Stadium.
Curie nearly doubled its first-half production with a 63-yard touchdown on a middle screen from Jerome Thomas to Lavonte Jones, making it 14-7 Sterling with 1:31 left in the first half.
“We went into the locker room pretty fired up after that,” Sterling’s senior quarterback, Tanner Morse, said. “We missed tackles. We knew it would be a game-changer if we put one right back on them.”
