High school football: Storm brews up a defensive gem
MANLIUS – Watching the Bureau Valley defense work against Kewanee on Friday, you would have thought extra attention was put into that side of the ball in practice this week.
Holding the Kewanee offense to just 53 total yards in the first half and 170 for the game, the Storm defense was stout, allowing just a fourth-quarter touchdown in their 24-8 victory in Manlius.
Bureau Valley coach Jeff Ohlson said it was the same routine and focus in practice this week on the defensive side of the ball, but it was the execution that was excellent.
“We don’t change much defensively for anybody,” he said. “We go in with the same mindset and same practice schedule every week. We work on our offense, we work on our defense, and we work on our special teams. I thought defensively we played well the entire night.”
