ROCK FALLS – The Whiteside Retired Teachers’ Association members will meet at noon Sept. 13 at the Rock Falls Community Building, 601 W. 10th St.

All retired educators are welcome. Bob Sondgeroth, regional superintendent, and Chris Palmer, assistant superintendent, will be the guest speakers. Topics will include education issues and changes in the role of regional offices.

Lunch will be catered by Beelendorf’s Deli and Catering.

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."
