Mumford concert leaves good vibrations

What an outstanding experience the big music festival in Dixon was. The community must now capitalize on it.

In the wake of Mumford & Sons' Gentlemen of the Road weekend concert in Dixon, many people have had nothing but praise for the outcome.

And we've heard a lot of it.

Incredible.

Awesome.

Wonderful.

Fantastic.

Spectacular.

Best time ever.

The last comment, by the way, came from a member of the Sauk Valley Media Editorial Board.

After Mumford & Sons selected Dixon to be a stopover on its U.S. tour, many people and organizations pitched in to make it happen. Harnessing the region's manpower and brainpower was a major undertaking.

From what representatives of the 15,000 people who came here had to say, the effort was an overwhelming success. Today's Opinion page carries some of their comments.

The music festival and related events gave a much-needed shot in the arm for the local economy and community confidence.

We sincerely hope the reverberations from the Page Park stage, and the experience gained by local leaders, bring about many more positive outcomes for the community.
