William R. Glover Sr.
DIXON – William R. Glover Sr., 68, of Dixon, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at his home. Early in his career, he worked as a fireman for the Monmouth Fire Department, retiring in 2002 as an arson investigator for the state of Illinois Fire Marshal’s office. He also was an investigator with the arson canine program for 20 years.
William was born April 15, 1944, in Oregon, the son of William H. and Ella Mae (Dyer) Glover. He married Susan McKelvey on Jan. 23, 1968, in Monmouth. Bill and Sue were members of First Baptist Church in Dixon. He was an Eagle Scout, served in the Navy, and was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Survivors include his wife of Dixon; one daughter, Michelle (Kevin) Countryman of Freeport; one son, William R. “Bobby” Glover Jr. of Alexis; two sisters, Shirley Smith of Cedarville and Jean Harrenstein of Phoenix; three grandchildren, Korin (Tom) Karst, Natalie Countryman and C. Ryan Countryman; three great-grandchildren; special family of niece, Teddi Galbreath; nephews, Kim Youngblood, Gary Youngblood, Dean Youngblood; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
