Oregon firefighter injured in explosion, fire
OREGON – A 25-year-old Oregon firefighter apparently working on a demolition car in his garage was severely burned in an explosion and fire around 5 p.m. Monday, Oregon Fire Chief Don Heller said.
Thomas Jones was flown to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford with burns over 85 percent of his body, and lung damage, Heller said.
His girlfriend, Chelsy Janssen, 22, of Oregon, was injured trying to help him. She was taken to Saint Anthony’s with second-degree burns, he said.
