RECKLESS DISCHARGE CASE: Daniel M. Cornelius, 33, of Dixon; charged with reckless discharge of a firearm. Police say Cornelius shot a 12-gauge shotgun in the air Tuesday in a confrontation with a newspaper carrier.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY CASE: Susan E. Emmole, 43, of Dixon; charged with residential burglary. Police say Emmole stole cash, coins, and watches from a home on the northeast side of Dixon on Aug. 9.

HOME INVASION CASE: David A. Jones, 37, of Dixon; charged with home invasion and criminal trespass to a residence, both felonies, and misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon and criminal damage to property. Police say Jones went into a Dixon home through an unlocked window on July 28, found and ax and chopped through a door after people inside locked themselves in another room.

Tuesday
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY CASE: Darnell A. Clark, 24, of Chicago; charged with residential burglary and obstructing justice. Police say Clark tried to break into a house in the Indian Ridge subdivision in Sterling on April 13, 2011.

Wednesday
DRUG CASE: Rogelio Amezola, 35, of Sterling; charged with delivery of between 100 and 400 grams of cocaine. Police say he sold 173 grams of cocaine to an informant in May 2011.
On the docket: Pretrial conference, during which the judge and attorneys will discuss matters concerning the case and set a trial schedule.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY CASE: Aaron “A.J.” Buser, 36, of Rock Falls; charged with residential burglary. Police say Buser went into a Rock Falls house on Dec. 27 and stole Vicodin.

DRUG CASE: Christopher G. Cornell, 26, of Sterling, and Jonah L. Smith, 22, of Chicago; charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park, and delivery of a controlled substance. Police say a search of their Rock Falls motel room on June 12 turned up a large amount of crack and about $1,000 in cash.

THEFT CASE: Bonnie A. Dittmar, 41, of Sterling; charged with theft of more than $100,000 and nine counts of forgery. Police say she took $$111,102.99 from Waugh Foods Inc. of East Peoria between March 2006 and May 2009, while she was a food rep selling products to local restaurants.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY CASE: Charles E. Gasso, 35, of Sterling; charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Police say Gasso got into a fight with another man on Oct. 30, and cut him on the thigh with a box-cutter, while a third man who tried to break up the fight was cut in the head.

SEX ABUSE CASE: Brent A. Grove, 28, of Sterling; charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. Police say Grove sexually abused two children younger than 13 in May and June.

ARMED ROBBERY CASE: Joshua E. Messenger, 25, of Rock Falls; charged with armed robbery. Police say Messenger and another masked man robbed a Sterling gas station May 22 with a knife.

SHAKEN BABY CASE: Karyn McCallister, 41, of Sterling; charged with aggravated battery of a child and reckless conduct. Police say McCallister, who ran an unlicensed day care center in her home, shook a 4-month-old girl in February 2009, causing severe head injuries.

LEAVING THE SCENE CASE: Michael R. Modler, 54, of Sterling; charged with leaving the scene of an accident, a felony, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper passing on the shoulder of the roadway. Police say Modler crashed his motorcycle on West Lincolnway at Anne Street in Galt on March 18 and left before police arrived. Modler's passenger, Charlotte Henson, 52, of Sterling, was thrown and seriously injured.

DAMAGE TO PROPERTY/TRESPASSING CASE: Erik J. Morales, 26, of Sterling; charged with criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to a residence. Police say Morales, who was intoxicated, mistakenly broke into a Sterling home in the 100 block East Eighth Street Dec. 4 and was confronted by the homeowner.

RECKLESS HOMICIDE/DUI CASE: Chad E. Morse, 41, of Rock Falls; charged with two counts each of aggravated DUI, three counts of reckless homicide and misdemeanor DUI. Police say Morse killed a 33-year-old pedestrian in a drunken driving accident on Nov. 26.

SHOOTING CASE: Shawn E. Perales, 20, of Sterling; charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owner's Identification Card, and misdemeanor unlawful possession of ammunition. Police say Perales, using a stolen semi-automatic pistol, shot at a home in the 10 block of East Seventh Street on July 22. The pistol later was found in an apartment in the 700 block of Locust Street, police say.

RAPE/HOME INVASION CASE: David J. Reese, 26, of Rock Falls; charged with home invasion, armed robbery, and aggravated criminal sexual assault. Police say Reese pushed his way into a Rock Falls woman's home on May 31 and demanded money before raping her.

DUI/RECKLESS DRIVING CASE: Roberto L. Reyna, 38, of Rock Falls; charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident, aggravated reckless driving and misdemeanor DUI. Police say Reyna, who was drinking at a party earlier, was backing out of a driveway April 30, 2011, and hit two pedestrians, a tree, a mailbox, and a landscaping boulder.

DUI/ECSTASY CASE: Penny J. Schmidt, 24, of Rock Falls; charged with DUI, possession of Ecstasy, and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident, and misdemeanor resisting a peace officer, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving with a suspended license and having no insurance. Police say Schmidt was high on Ecstasy when she hit four mailboxes in Rock Falls on March 20. She was arrested after a brief foot chase.

CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE: Lawrence C. Verdick Jr., 58, of Sterling; charged with 38 counts of aggravated child pornography. A search of his home computer, seized in April, turned up many sexually explicit images of children younger than 12, Whiteside County sheriff’s deputies say.

ARMED ROBBERY CASE: Alexis M. Velazquez, 20, of Rock Falls; charged with armed robbery, residential burglary, and criminal trespass to a residence. Police say Velazquez and five other people assaulted an 18-year-old Sterling man in his apartment on Dec. 20 and stole his wallet and other items.
