Regarding the Aug. 10 editorial, I get frustrated so many times with inaccuracies I read in newspapers and hear on television news. That editorial set me off again.
It states that Dixon sits square in the middle of the county. Have you looked at a map of the county and know where its borders are? To be in the middle of the county, you would have to be in Amboy or Lee Center, if you know where they are.
I assume reporters' stories are checked for factual accuracy. Who checks your editorials? This may seem like a petty inaccuracy, but if you're going to print it or say it, get it right.
Also, I rarely agree with Mr. Seeberg's actions or comments as reported by this paper, but I do agree with him concerning the Lee County Industrial Development Association. Do LCIDA and Mr. Seeberg know where the eastern part of Lee County is? They both missed a golden opportunity for development at Interstate 39 and U.S. Route 30.
Some foresight 10 years ago and this could have been done, instead of now saying we have no money.
