ROCKFORD – The death of a 7-year-old Dixon boy who prosecutors say suffered serious brain injuries at the hands of his stepmother is a homicide, a Winnebago County coroner's jury ruled Wednesday.

Colton Edward Scott Fassler also developed multiple medical problems because of the blunt force trauma he suffered on Dec. 30, 2010, the jury ruled.

Lee County State's Attorney Henry Dixon, who attended the inquest, said he does not yet know if additional or different charges will be filed against Tiffany D. Fassler, 36, of Dixon.
