Dinner is simmering
Fill house with wonderful smell of stovetop stew
This summer has been hot in the extreme, but it seems to be letting up a little. So, maybe you are tired of salads and picnics and ready to move on.
I had a house full of company last week because we had a wedding in the family and lots of relatives came in from out of town. In addition, of course, those who live here hung out in my little house most every evening, to be with the company.
They all pitched in and brought snacks and such, but we needed something substantial. I used my slow cooker the first night. I filled it with 2 large pork roasts, threw in a bottle of good barbecue sauce (Sweet Baby Ray’s is what I use) and a jar of salsa. That is all you need, no salt, pepper, nothing. I cooked it all day. It is done when it is falling apart and you can shred it with a fork. Get some rolls and pile on the meat.
